Day Training & Potjie Competition 2025

This past weekend was one for the books! Our dojos came together for a day filled with intense karate training, team spirit, and a deliciously competitive potjie competition. From sharpening our techniques to stirring up mouthwatering flavors, the event showcased the discipline that define our karate family.

Morning Training Session

We kicked off the day with a rigorous training session led by our dedicated instructors. Students of all ages and levels pushed their limits, refining their kata, kumite, and self-defense techniques. The focus was not only on improving individual skills but also on fostering teamwork and perseverance. The energy was contagious as everyone gave their all, proving that karate is not just a sport—it’s a way of life.

Potjie Competition

After an intense morning, it was time to put our culinary skills to the test. Teams gathered around their potjie pots, ready to create the best slow-cooked masterpiece. The competition was fierce but friendly, as each group carefully selected ingredients, layered flavors, and patiently tended to their bubbling stews. The aroma of spices, meats, and fresh vegetables filled the air, building anticipation for the final tasting.

The variety of flavors was incredible—each dish reflected the creativity and unique touch of its team. After much deliberation (and a lot of taste-testing!), the winning potjie was crowned, earning its creators well-deserved bragging rights. But in the end, the true reward was the laughter, shared meals, and memories created throughout the day.

More Than Just an Event

The Day Training & Potjie Competition was more than just a gathering—it was a celebration of the values we uphold in karate. Whether on the mats or collaborating over a potjie, we strengthened our bonds as a dojo family.

A huge thank you to everyone who participated, from the dedicated karateka to the talented chefs and enthusiastic supporters. We can’t wait for the next one! Until then, keep training hard and sharpening those cooking skills—you never know when the next competition will be!
