The NSKF East London family recently experienced a day filled with immense pride and emotion. The events of the day left many overwhelmed with gratitude and admiration for the incredible spirit demonstrated by the team, both on and off the mats.
A Moment of Bravery and Generosity
One of the most touching moments was the bravery and generosity shown by Isabella, Sensei Rodney’s student, who is courageously battling cancer. In a remarkable act of support, Carmen, Sensei Vernon’s granddaughter shaved her head, raising a staggering R10,000 for the cause. This act of solidarity did not stop with her. Carmen, another shining example of the community’s strength, also shaved off all her hair in support of Isabella and her grandfather. Carmen pledged to go bald if they could raise over R10,000, and thanks to the overwhelming support from the community, they far exceeded this goal.
